Imagine it, a luxury private tented safari where you and your friends tour
the premier national parks of the world ...
Whilst enjoying your early morning coffee or tea
at your bedside to the sound of bird calls, you prepare for your pre-breakfast game-viewing tour.
Your luxurious tent has been set up in a strategic
site, so you are amongst the wildlife almost immediately on leaving your campsite. In your
specially-adapted Land Rover, with extra leg and head room, you prepare your binoculars and
photographic equipment for instant use from either of the two large custom-built roof hatches.
You travel along at a slow speed, marveling at all you see - the scenery, the plants, the
birds and the mammals all around you. The silence is broken only by the hum of the vehicle,
the sounds of the wild, the click of a camera and a well-chosen story from your driver.
Your driver may indeed be your host, Bjørn Figenschou, who accompanies each of his private
tented safaris and whose stories are drawn from a lifetime of Tanzanian experiences.
You return to your camp for a hearty breakfast
followed by the mid-morning tour. Lunch is served in camp after which you may want to relax a
little before going out on the final tour of the day. You rest assured, knowing that your safety
is top-priority and that your driver can make immediate contact with the crew, the office in
Arusha or officials via an exclusive VHF radio system, regardless of your location.
When evening comes, you return to camp for
hot showers and cocktails around the campfire followed by your candlelight dinner. The meal is
prepared from fresh meats, fruits and vegetables and includes fresh-baked bread and rolls,
accompanied by an assortment of real home-made chutneys, pickles and jellies. Roughing it
in the bush of Africa - roughing it easy!
You retire to your luxurious tent and ponder
the day. "All those animals! Do I need more film? Will I see a leopard tomorrow? Will Ngorongoro
crater be the Eden people describe?" Sleep; tomorrow is another day.
